Been here several times- highly recommend it. The cinnamon pineapple is amazing and the parmesan beef is tops! People complaining that $28 is too much, haven't been to many other Brazilian steakhouses. Being from Minneapolis, the same thing costs $50 a plate downtown Mpls... And Carnaval is much better. Never had I had to wait to get in. In Mpls, you need to make reservations. Passing through? Must stop. You will thank me later.

Delicious. Spendy. Good music on weekends. Great place to to take a group and be loud and have fun. Great mojiitos! Salad bar options is great if you aren't a meat eater.

Pretty darn good this was my first time eating Brazilian food but was pleasantly surprised a few things I didn't care for but not because they were bad just not my thing the shrimp was amazing the pineapple amazing the grilled cheese AMAZING! All in all very glad I tried this out will have to revisit again some time. One thing is for sure you better be dang hungry when you go in here cause they will keep it coming until you burst.

I've been to many Brazilian steakhouses (churrascaria). This one is average. I've been here a few times. The meats are not seasoned as well as they should be. The salad bar has some decent options but nothing outstanding. The service is good; friendly staff stop by the table periodically. I recommend the caipirinha, Brazil's national cocktail. The grilled pineapple and the fried bananas are also good.

Outstanding. Just simply outstanding food and service. My entire party of cranky ass old men loved it!

I've eaten at several other Brazilian Steakhouses in the US and even one in Torreon, Mexico. The only thing missing vs. Fogo de Chao is fills mignon - but your pocketbook will appreciate it costing about 1/2. Loved the grilled pineapple as well as the flank steak, bacon-wrapped sirloin and of course the Picanha (Brazilian signature meat). If you love meat (and LOTS of it), you've got to try this place!

Brazilian Steakhouse at reasonable price! We had a spectacular dinner here while visiting Sioux Falls. The ambiance is great, low lighting, and also not noisy so we could actually talk. Loved the tiered pricing options for the rodizio dinner. Two of our party selected the lower priced $19.99 with 6 meat options, and two of us chose the mid-level $28.99 with all meats except shrimp (which is offered at a higher price. ). Everyone was thoroughly enjoying all the delicious bbq'd meats and the included salad bar. Yes salad options were delicious, but nowhere near as extensive (or as expensive!) as Fogo da Chao in Mpls. But we were very pleased and would definitely return to Carnaval again if in town. 4.5 stars would be more accurate for the restaurant itself, as not all meats we tried were outstanding. But it was a 5-star experience overall, considering the value for the price, the fantastic experience, and not expecting such a great meal in a small city in SD.

I visited this restaurant on recommendation from a colleague while business traveling. From the general manager greeting me and making me feel welcome all the way to the individual gauchos taking pride in the meats they present, the service was phenomenal. I ordered the signature meal, Rodizio #2, which provides a great selection of meats and their renowned grilled pineapple with cinnamon. Brilliant idea to have pineapple throughout your meal since it helps with digestion. The salad bar was a nice touch; I never had Brazilian rice but it was great. The meats: parmesan steak, parmesan chicken, bacon wrapped beef, lamb, barbeque pork, and their signature steak aka Picanha. I couldn't believe with all that I ate that I didn't feel bloated. Very high quality ingredients. Definitely keep the wine flowing as it pairs wonderfully with the meats. The desserts - I tried all of these (warning: big portions so you may want to bring someone to share): pineapple delight, carrot cake, gluten free chocolate cake (they used house-ground pecan & walnut flour), and housemade papaya ice cream (another great digest aid). Ambience - Beautiful twinkling star effect with the overhead lights, a Northern Lights type along the wall corners, great live music, and nicely appointed interior. Value - Unbelieveable. I can't believe they charge so little for such great quality. In Orange County, CA, I paid double for a mediocre churrascaria experience. If you really enjoy a high quality meal, come here. You won't regret it. Next time I'm in town, I'm coming back. I suggest you do the same.

My only complaint is that you literally cannot eat any full meals before coming to this restaurant, on the day of your reservation...and you WILL need reservations. The meat is incredible as well as the salad bar. Highlight is the cinnamon roasted pineapple though! DELICIOUS! Unique experience, live music, clean and beautiful restaurant, wonderful staff. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Ate there again tonight. Consistently good service and high quality food. Reasonably priced for the amount of food offered. The pineapple and house signature steak are two of my favorites.

Went here on a Wednesday evening and was seated right away. Although the exterior of the restaurant isn't much to look at, the interior is very nicely decorated. My server was nice and would have explained the whole process had I not mentioned that I had been to other churrascarias previously. One thing that they should mention is that rice and mashed potatoes are available on the hot bar and are not served at the table as they are at other places. I got the Rodizio option #2 (everything but the shrimp). The pricing here is very reasonable, but you sort of get what you pay for. When compared to the other churrascarias that I have been to, the salad bar was somewhat lacking in variety. A lot of the good stuff is placed in an awkward position requiring some maneuvering under the sneeze guard. The other issue with this particular restaurant is that the servings of meat are ENORMOUS. When I was offered the flank steak, the gaucho cut off a huge slab that I could not even grab with the tongs. Almost every item was served in this fashion. The problem is that some of the meat seems to be severely undercooked. I suppose that this creates less work for the gauchos, and perhaps this how locals prefer to be served here. Overall, I give it an A-OK. I have had better even at this price point, but I think it deserves more than two stars. The service was really good and the gauchos appeared frequently enough. If I am in Sioux Falls again, I will likely give it another try.

We went here by recommendation of a friend. It was awesome. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. Live music was a nice touch. The food was fresh and very good. The only problem is to stop.

Carnaval was quite an experience and I highly recommend visiting this establishment at least once in your life. I've been a customer 3 times, and each time have been extremely pleased. All three visits I have ordered the same thing. The $24.99 package including all meant, excluding shrimp. The salad bar comes with this. Now $24.99 is a lot of money, but it's worth the quality of food and athmosphere. There are many meats to choose from, and they are served gaucho style, which means the the choices are brought to your table and cut off to your liking. Depending on if you choose this option, you are given a card, with green on one side and red on the other. Green meaning you want food, and red meaning you don't. 1. Atmosphere - The entire place is very well decorated with neat lightning. There is a patio outside which looks fun. I've not tried it yet. The musicians I have heard have always been top notch, and never too loud. I can always hear, and have a conversation. 2. Food - Amazing! My two favorites are the peppered beef, and the cinnamon pineapple. I recommend going hungry because you will for sure leave full. There is a large salad bar, with soup, usually mashed potatoes, and many ethnic dishes to try. If you wanted to just get the salad bar, it would be a meal in itself. My wife usually orders the $19 meal package. This doesn't include pineapple but I give her mine. You also have the choice to order off an extensive menu. I haven't done this, but I'm sure everything is delicious. This is a great place to try in Sioux Falls if you are looking for a unique dining experience, with great food an atmosphere. You will not be disappointed.

This is my second time here, and it was much busier the second time. There was an hour wait. The first time, I remember the gauchos having adorable Brazilian accents, but maybe Juan Pablo from the bachelor scared them all back home! The all you can eat option is a bit pricey, but the meat is cooked to perfection. The salad bar is also a nice selection of premade salads and make your own. But who comes here for the salad? The second time, I ordered the #3 option which has less choices of meat, and I was satisfied. My only complaint is that the menu advertises specialty bread brought to your table, but none of the tables around us got bread. Highlight: roasted pineapple! To die for!

Omg grilled pineapple is so delicious and of course all the meats! Service was quick and friendly considering they are so busy. Atmosphere is a bit loud but nice and low lighting for a romantic dinner out. The buffet is very tasty as well. They have original mojitos which aren't very common and are made perfectly.

We were in South Dakota for about 10 days -and this was the absolute best dinner we had while there. Excellent service, great wine list, and the Brazilian grill meats - outstanding. It was so fun to see the huge variety of meats, all very good, and the assortment of sides. The grilled pineapple was fabulous. Service was outstanding. If you are in the Sioux Falls area, definiltely put this restaurant on your "must do" list. I loved telling them when to stop by for more meats....or just turn the card over and say do not stop quite yet. (i.e. No).....but I kept my eye open for the next one I wanted to try. Their delivery of the meats was perfect! Its one price once you decide what variety you want to enjoy. They do offer some ala carte meals as well....but what's the point with such delectable Brazilian grill meats tempting you every moment of your vist to this delightful restaurant. For someone from California, I found the prices very reasonable for such an amazing meal. Dress code ranged from casual to business casual.... You can make reservations on Open Table. Since we were there on a Monday night night around 6:30 we were able to just walk in. We were amazed by the end of our meal how popular this place is even on a Monday night. Parking is by the restaurant.

What can I say about Carnaval? I just got back from the best darn meal of my entire life (I'm 43, and lived nearly all my life in the culinary bastion of the San Francisco Bay Area). My fiancee and I each got the Gaucho's Meal (the #2 version ie., everything but the shrimp), and it was simply MAGNIFICENT. Of particular note were the Top Sirloin, the Parmesan Beef, and the Bacon-Wrapped Sirloin (although literally everything was above-average). An honorable mention also goes out to the delicious Linguica, which was like no other Linguica (or any other sausage) I'd ever had before. The grilled pineapple was beyond scrumptious. They had the best salad bar I've ever encountered, and their Italian coffee may possibly have been the best I've ever drank too. Its a little pricey, but this is clearly a case of one getting value for one's money. Everything was nice about this place. Even the decor, the lighting, and the background music (stuff I normally don't care about) was very pleasing. The service was excellent, and our waitress (Rachel) was a delight. Usually there is something negative one can say about even a great place, but in this case, no, Carnaval is next-of-kin to perfection. I'd never had Brazilian food before, so I can't speak to the whole "authenticity" issue, but I frankly don't care whether what I just had was authentically Brazilian or not; I just know I want more of it! Our dinner tab was actually the single largest two-person tab I've ever had (yet still under $100; I don't want to scare anyone off), and it was worth each and every penny. As a bonus, this place is NOT a chain (because its located next to all those other chain restaurants near the Century theaters, I'd somehow gotten the idea it was one too), but is a locally-owned establishment with just this single, unique location. If you live in or near Sioux Falls, and you don't eat here at least once, you're a fool.

I've been to Brazil several times so I wasn't sure what to expect from a Brazilian restaurant in Sioux Falls, SD. To my surprise this place is as good as any other Brazilian restaurant (or even better) in Brazil or USA . The drinks are dead on, caipirihnas as the real deal, and the food...well....SD is full of ranchs, so nothing but the best meats. The staff super friendly as well. It also helps that the owner is Brazilian and some of the gauchos are as well. If hungry and looking for an assortments of meats and great salad bar in Sioux Falls...this is the place to be. The only thing I did not like were the fake plants around...haha...what can I say?

AMAZING! My husband brings me here every year for our anniversary! The signature beef is my favorite! Try the coconut fried bananas. Ambiance is lovely. Drinks are good! I highly recommend you try at least once.

Meat! Good! We ate ourselves into a meat coma. The sirloin, chicken, pork and lamb were all very tasty and the pineapple was a nice touch. Service was awesome and the salad bar was excellent as well. Pricey, but worthy.

Literally, my favorite food in Sioux Falls. A bit pricey but understandable. The food is top notch and there is a large variation of tastes. Personal favorites: grilled pineapple and Parmesan beef. There's a salad bar for the ages.

If you love to eat great good with unlimited portions, this is the place for you....They have a menu as well as a all you can eat options, I would recommend the all you can eat, trust me you will get your money worth. Comes with Salad bar and a few small deserts. The Meat is amazing, beef, pork, chicken and lamb are the choices, they do have shrimp for an extra charge as well. The meat is very flavorful and something everyone should try once.

Took my wife out for diner last night and thought we would take a break from the norm and try something different.....and boy did we ever. We both opted for the Rodizio, with her's upgrade to include the shrimp. Unbelievable - the meat and shrimp just did not stop coming out! The salad bar was very extensive with a whole lot of various pasta dishes, and of course salad toppers. It did not take long to fill up the plate, and once back at the table ....the parade of meat started ....it was I think six to seven rotating meat options all served/sliced table side on skewers. For the most part, all the meat and shrimp were cooked to perfection, with only one on the rather rare side. Of interest was a cooked pineapple, which was also sliced and served table side - very yummy. What my wife commented most on (besides the food quality) was the atmosphere ......unlike any other place in town. It was very Intimate with the back ground singer playing and the lights dimmed (Made it feel like date night :-) Ok - so why only the 4 stars? Simply put - this restaurant is on the high side when it comes to the Bill. Two meals and drinks (+ tip) was close to $100. But - as they say, you get what you pay for; and we were not let down, nor did I feel I did not get my money's worth - quite the contrary. This is not some place we will eat at often, but it is some place to go for that special occasion. BTW - the staff was fantastic...everyone from the greeter, waiter to the servers. Great Experience!! Well Done Carnaval Brazilian Grill.

  • Jace W.

Quite possibly the best Brazilian place I've been. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because the feijoada wasn't up to par. Tasted like a bland southern version of something that has the potential to be the best food on earth. Other than that, best meat and service I've had from a Brazilian rodizio. And let's be honest, don't we go for the meat?

This is a must eat spot in Sioux Falls South Dakota. If you like meat, this is the place to go. Atkins diet extravaganza! I had the mutton this evening, and it was the best that I have ever had. They have an incredible salad bar along with good soup. The entire service staff is accommodating and extremely helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

  • Heather R.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. It is very different than anything I have experienced before and I was surprised to find such a restaurant in South Dakota! My husband and I went for the all you can eat (in the lowest amount of meats available!- I think there were 8 meats?) and we were beyond stuffed! If you decide on an all you can eat option you are given tokens that are green on one side for GO and red on the other for STOP. When your token is flipped to the green side, the waiters walking around with large amounts of meat on a skewer will stop by your table and ask you if you wish to have some. I loved every meat I tried! Additionally, with the all you can eat option, there is a salad bar with pasta salads, potato salads, rice, and other sides to have with your meal. If you go to this place though, as good as the salads/sides are, I'd suggest just having all you can meat and not going for the sides! It's worth it! I think this would be a really fun first date night (even though it is kind of pricey!)

Meat coma anyone? I'm always up for new dining adventures, couldn't pass this one by. The concept of grilled meats paraded around on long skewers and sliced right at your table sounded like fun. Add some live music and mood lighting accented with plastic trees and foliage. And so so it was, beef, chicken, shrimp, lamb and pork, all the major protiens represented and grilled. Other than some slight over salting, the food was good and service was great. The all-you-can-eat grilled meat option was accompanied by a cold salad bar and several warm entrees as well. The only Brazillian feeling side dishes were the black beans and a rice dish, they were delish. You can also order entrees from the menu, but then again you might not get to try the simplest and most amazing flavor sensation of the evening...grilled pineapple, also skewered and served table side. Make friends with your gaucho wearing pineapple server! Fried bananas coated with coconut were quite tasty too. Three stars because I think $25 per person was a just bit over priced.

Its ok. Best to order the Buffett menu service is not so great and super slow. Waiter was not great. Gave me the wrong wine. My wife had to wait 20 minutes for her salad. The meat buffet is very good off the menu not so good.

This was my first experience with Brazilian BBQ and with the term "Meat-Sweats". Friendly staff, good food, and LOTS of MEAT... they bring it till you cry uncle. The salad bar was also very good and diverse. You will not go hungry and the food is great. Did I mention the MEAT?! Personal note; I've since given up animal products, but I'd still go for the salad / pasta bar.

Unexpected treat. Great ambience and great staff. Outside seating too. The food is exceptional. Every kind of meat and all of it was great. Terrific mussels and shrimp too. It's a fun way to try different cuts and types of meat. That said you will really enjoy the brown sugar pineapple! Great salad bar!

Wow. Just finished eating the best food Sioux Falls has to offer. My first recommendation is if you are with two or three people, sit at the bar. If Todd is working, you are in for a treat. A true master of his art. I felt compelled to create an account to write a review based on the A+ service received while we attended this fine establishment. If you need a recommendation on wine or fine scotch to compliment the amazing selection of well seasoned meats, Todd is your man. I would like to explain to you all, I've eaten at some very fancy and overpriced restaurants, and this is not one. For a few beers and endless meat my bill was $43. In Minneapolis, Las Vegas, or any other major city this meal is well over $100. Remember how many people are a part of your dining experience. With 11 or more types of meat, an individual server for each, this is a cheap meal. To describe the amazing flavor and tenderness of the meats would require a small book. Simply said this is a must go to for all out of town folks, and any locals who think its "to expensive" need to understand this is a tremendous value. The owner of this business should be elated to know that you have an amazing staff. Again, I'd like to thank Todd for the great service and I will certainly be back before I leave town. Oh there is also a full salad and hot bar with sides, however this patron was only interested in the meat! All guests I spoke with claimed its the best salad bar in the city, so I'll take their word for it based on the quality of the meat! Seriously folks go to this restaurant and review it so people know how great it is. Try the carnaval house beer, it is a tad sweet, full bodied beer that compliments the meat perfectly.

Absolutely wonderful food. The service is great, one of the best places to eat in town hands down. Usually has live music, always has wonderful rodizo's and salad bar. The pastry chef makes some of the best desserts in the area, and definitely the best carrot cake I've had in my life. It is best to get reservations through their site online, it is a very busy place on weekends in particular.

First trip to a Brazilian Churrascuria. My dining partner had the steak option with the gaucho service; very cool. I ordered off the menu, "Shrimpzilla". I was a little disappointed in the service, our waitress was rather crabby, for lack of a better description. Not a good start to the evening, but we were able to get past it. The steak began to arrive immediately upon my partner flipping his red/green chip to the green (GO!) side. I sneaked little bites off his plate and really loved the parmesan steak. The lamb was quite good, and so was the traditional style steak. The atmosphere was really unique and I loved the gauchos. Even their attire suggested traditional style service. The grilled pineapple was amazing. My shrimp was a disappointment. It was a little tough, having been overcooked, and did not come with the promised lemon and lime wedges for squeezing. When I asked for some, I got a death-glare and reluctant service. If I go back, it will be for the steak. The experience was definitely worth a try.

My husband absolutely loved this place... If not purely for the fact that the waiters walk around with slabs of meat on swords and cut pieces off for you at your whim. I was not as impressed by the fish tacos I ordered, I found them to be overly breaded and have a strange aftertaste. The ambiance was nice, with a live band and low lighting, but the prices were a little steep. One drink and two desserts later our bill came out to $80 for two people. Yikes.

Great place to eat if your hungry and want atmosphere too. Very tasty meats, pineapple is awesome and a pretty big salad and pasta bar. Go on the weekends when there is live music for a complete night of fun.

What a fantastic place to dine. The service was fantastic and the food was the unbelievably good. Thought it was even better than Fogo D Cho's in Chicago or Minneapolis and the prices were much better. Try a little bit of everything including the grilled pineapple which is an delicious surprise. Do watch out for one of the waiters, he knows you say no, but he knows you really want more and accidentally puts some more meat or pineapple on your plate. Can not wait to go back, the next time I am in town.

Carnaval is pretty good as long as you stick to the meat and mainly the beef. The salad bar although decent and varied pales in comparison to the meat. For reference I had the Rodizio without Shrimp. The difference in cost for adding shrimp is roughly $8 and I didn't feel it was worthwhile. My dining companion however did choose to go with the shrimp and immensely enjoyed it. As for the actual meat as I stated above the beef options are best. The Parmesan chicken was dry and lacked flavor. The chicken leg was okay but not phenomenal. The sausage and flank steak were both a little salty but bearable. The bacon wrapped beef was extremely salty and nearly unbearable. Pork Loin was dry and lacking in flavor. Signature, ribeye were both great however. The grilled pineapple is phenomenal as well as the fried coconut breaded banana which is made to order. If your palette does not handle salt well then it is likely that many of the dishes may overwhelm. However if salt is not a huge problem for you then you will find maybe of the skewers enjoyable. Our waiter was very attentive and came back multiple times to ask if we had a specific meat delivered. There is a desert cart, but I did not partake so I can not give a good review however they did look quite good. On the night we went they had a live band playing which was a nice bonus.

I've been to several Brazilian churrascarias before, and this place tops them all. It seemed pretty standard at first glance. There was a decent salad bar, but who comes to a churrascaria for salad, and of course the meat was exceptional in variety and flavor. What set this place apart was little things. Grilled pineapple on a spit? Yes please. Plus deep fried coconut bananas with honey? Don't mind if I do. Also, I had several tvs in sight keeping me subtly in the loop on a couple games and there was a charming gent playing classical guitar and singing rather well just for a little added class. And the price for the meal was actually very reasonable. Overall very enjoyable. I can't imagine I will ever find myself coming through Sioux Falls again, but if I did I would definitely think about coming here again.

Food: 5 Price: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Friendliness: 5 OMG! Nobody knows this place?! This is a must-go! So anyway, my co-worker introduced me this place when he knows that I was going there for work. (Thanks A!) Apparently some neuro-surgeon is the owner, who works in the hospital that I was visiting for work. Sounds pretty skeptical to me at the beginning. But as a carnivore, and after working+driving for like 15 hours, I was totally up for meat. Like I said, food was gorgeous. It was just great. Best ribs I had ever. Unbelievable. I was eating at Gorat the day before in Omaha, and I still think this place is good. This should tell you something ;) And the atmosphere was great too. Somewhere that I can use for a date (too bad I was with a manager The only problem is, I have to manage myself to go back to Sioux Falls if I want to take a date next time :p

I have been to 3 (Fort Worth TX and Minneapolis, MN) different Brazilian Steak Houses and this is probably the last on the list, but still good. Service was excellent and the meat was very delicious. The salad bar was smaller than in other Brazilian steak houses but still had plenty and I was very full when I left. I think for the area this is a very good restaurant. I would recommend it.
